Description
One day on one of my walks at Belgrad Forest in Istanbul, I saw what looked like a big drop of blood on a leaf from far away. When I got closer, I noticed that it was a bright red dragonfly. The inspiration came from this encounter, and I quickly met with Thomas Ward and Sera Boeno and showed them the drawing of the blade design I had in mind. Together, we created this piece.
The blade is composed of hand-forged high-carbon “feather” Damascus; it’s forged in a flame blade style to represent the motion of the dragonfly. The handle is hand-carved from wax and cast into brass, and the intricate wings are moveable.
